Yasmine, much of the battle over our health takes place in our mind and our health will tend to follow the way we think. You made a smart choice by moving out and you are doing careful research. There is a lot of information out there and just as much misinformation. Mold is serious and should be taken seriously. You noticed the symptoms improving with your relocation - that's good! I imagine you will notice a continual decrease of negative symptoms as more time goes on. As for what you can do, yes! There are definitely things that can be done. This is an area I don't know much about, though - if you're up for it, I suggest you share your story here on MoldBlogger - just go to http://moldblogger.com/share-your-story - I'll publish it and then it'll go out to folks who've made more experience and can share some more specific ideas and suggestions.

Your words have given me so much hope right now. Im a worrier, especially when its health related. I thought once you've inhaled mold spores (not the common ones in the air we all breath, but the bunch i saw on the drawers that i naively took outside & blasted with aerosol cleaner that made me inhale them), well..i read up & the internet only spelt disaster, i thought that exposure alone is enough to give me physical problems all my life. I want to believe like u said our bodies will heal & eliminate that terrible mold out of our body. After relocating, my nagging cough, stomach cramps, sore throat & dizzy spells went away. I still have a wheeze in my chest, that im taking aerius 5mg for. It seems to help, im just terribly afraid it that exposure & this wheeze is going to cause asthma or something like that. Is there anything i can do to help my body eliminate this culprit 100% from my system? thank u & sorry for the long reply.

Yasmine, you should notice a dramatic improvement in the new environment. As for long term damage, don't be afraid. Your bodies ability to heal is amazing and, depending on the length of your exposure, your hope for a full recovery is high. Have you noticed the symptoms improving since relocating?

I cleaned black mold out from under the kitchen sink. the drawers that had our cutlery, kitchen towels & utensils were covered with dust (mold spores i assume)..so i stupidly took the drawers covered with mold spores on the balcony & sprayed them with dettol, so everything probably flew everywhere & i must have inhaled it. i had a terrible sore throat & bad cough, finally i moved out & now my chest is wheezy, im taking anti allergy pills. im worried that this exposure as impaired my health long term. Im only 30, im scared & need someones advice, please.
