Welcome!

MoldBlogger is dedicated to providing a place to share and receive information that will better allow us to fight and conquer toxic mold and the consequences of mold exposure. MoldBlogger is the result of the creative genius of Jonathan Wold, and currently is the joint efforts of Brian and Krystle Reeves, and the many participants in our community who answer questions and share their stories.

Living in the wet Pacific Northwest has revealed the very real battle with mold that many encounter. Krystle has experienced firsthand some of the physical distress mold can have on the body. Brian is an aspiring architect and often sees the damage mold can do to buildings not properly constructed to prevent mold growth. We hope that our experience and dedication to this subject will assist you in finding solutions to dealing with any concerns you may have with mold.

Here's a good place to start: https://moldblogger.com/mold-101/. I'd contact my local Department of Public Health and see what the state laws are for landlords responsibility with mold. Here is an article on what to do if you have mold in your rental too: https://moldblogger.com/i-have-mold-in-my-rental/. Hopefully that helps!

Hi ... My name is Esmeralda. I came across your website and found it quite informative. My grandson is almost five years of age and has been diagnosed with asthma as a result of mold exposure in the apartments we've lived in. My biggest reason for writing to you is because my grandson and I are designing a big poster to send to President Trump. The big poster we are creating will contain images of many children suffering from asthma, and much more. I thought it would be a great opportunity for our president to read all your mold stories ... and be better informed. - Your website will receive the credit. - I believe he can make positive changes so that we can live better and healthier lives. Let me know if you would give me the approval to submit your stories. Much thanks for your time... Esmeralda.

I purchased a manufactured Home from Future Homes in Gorst in December of 2012. Due to their failure to get all permits prior to building a Fleetwood Home, half the home was built and sat outside for about 6 months. T he home developed mold and that keeps reappearing. Neither company feels any responsibility to this on going problem. Do you have any suggestions?

Always been afflicted with inflammation, bursitis, osteoarthritis, in my personal dna. Over the past year have suffered with extreme digestive issues, constant vomiting, diarrhea, inflamed stomach and esophagus, nerve damage in hands, legs, and then started to think I had dementia, slurring words of not being able to get simple words or sentences out. All the endless tests meds and no and no answers. Black mold in my basement! The sump pumps were draining the wells, but not the drains around the walls properly. 95 lbs lighter, but what a way to lose it. Med industry so ignorant as to the various illnesses it can cause. And what is worse, it can affect people living in the same environment so differently by their personal dna and immune system to cope. I was floored with all the research I have done, not to mention the cost of repairs,$13k for new sump system alone, 1yr of illness and medical costs, I'm stunned how this is still so unrecognized and ignored. What can I do in northern PA to educate and inform? Who can I contact locally? Knowledge is power, now that I know, I want everyone to know. I dread the illnesses to come in TX and FL.

I am glad I found this site. At the end of Oct. we discovered mold in our crawl space and then in different areas in home. Test came back Asp. What is driving me insane is I have talked to /received quotes from about 7 mold remediation companies and a couple of Mold Inspectors and all have a different protocol for treating/removal for inside house and crawl space. I am so confused! The mold is making me sick and my dogs. My husband is not affected at all! I have to decide next week as we cannot keep living like this. I am very surprised at the different opinions. When I first started I thought I would be comparing company reviews and prices, not what to do. I ordered an Air Purifier today to try to help. I also believe I made it worse bc I had my chimney cleaned Friday and have been very tingly and nose hurting since then. I will have my duct work cleaned (not every company suggested that) and HVAC checked and carpet in house pulled up and replaced. Never dreamed my house would make me and my animals sick! Nice to have a place to go online.

I purchased a home though professional realtors who hide the mold, and unknowingly we were exposed for one year, high levels of stachybotris and aspergillus peniclium. Two years later my children and I begin to show numerous symptoms, very similar and all fall under Mold Toxicity symptoms. To date 26 symptoms and increasing in severety, weekly. Before I knew we were poisoned, by the home, I had begun a lawsuit, self represented, to rescind the contract (as the Canadian Law states is my right, "when a home was sold with harmful defects, ie. mold, you may rescind the contract) but now that we are sick and awaiting trial. I am attempting to include the harm we have suffered, job loss, and my children are unable to complete school studies. Although in Canada, we have no way to diagnose "Mold Poisoning" through extensive research I have found that my local veterinarian can test my cat, dog, pig, chicken, goat, cow, horse. But Canada does not possess a blood test or urine test for humans. I have also been cut off of disability benefits, due to the inability of a diagnosis. We have experienced the very thing most Mold Toxicity patience suffer through. The same comments we heard, "we are making them up in our heads", "I am getting old", "Mycotoxicosis" is a made up word", "I believe in science", "it's not all about you", "your suicidal", "just get over it", "you need to get busy", stay away from mold", and the best one yet, "we are placing you under investigation, and in 40 days we will decide if your son should be removed from your care". Does anyone have any recommendations for a way to include this evidence into my lawsuit?

Michele, where in Canada do you live? See if you can find someone who specializes in environmental medicine/functional medicine. There is a urine test that you can have done, but I think the sample gets shipped to the states for testing. It's $1150.00 Canadian (I know, ridiculously expensive). I believe the test is run by Real time laboratories.

Hi moldblogger, fellow PNWer here! Found your site while researching the warranty of habitability and mold as it applies to a tenant in Washington state. I am assisting a friend who got herself into a lease with an option to buy contract. Thankfully she didn't exercise the purchase option, therefore she is still covered as a renter by the RCW landlord tenant act. Getting to the point, 2 1/2 year battle getting a leak repaired. Excuse from property management company that they could not find leak, now soft spots around bathroom floor, area of black growing underneath linoleum. Mold addenda to lease agreement contract specific about tenant needing to take certain steps to reduce mold growth, including replacing drywall and discarding carpet. Also signed contract limiiting liability to landlord. It's a big mess! We've bought the hime test kits and will be here this week, dehumidifiers are running in every bathroom for the last 6 months. Limited use in bathroom to reduce moisture and growth. Allergies, asthma documented, landlord is multi billion dollar LLC with political as well as financial connections. I am just a small town girl who spent a few years in the mortgage and real estate industry 15 years ago. I feel like a little fish in a big pond with regards to PNW RCW and legality of this contract. Only things I have are tenacity, empathy and an above average intelligence. I am so glad to find your site and I hope to get some valuable information to help me get my friend out of this contract with her deposit in the least damaging way. Thank you for educating me and sharing your resources.
