We are going through a flood and our home is 10 feet in water and it is a log cabin. Can you get black mold out of a cabin? It was built back in 1984 and it is built with the large logs. My children have allergies and I am worried that this may be something that will endanger my children, please give me you expert opinions.

Questions:

How long does it take black mold to grow and can it be removed from your house if it has set there for over 5 weeks in 9 feet of water?

Susie, I will let folks with more experience weigh in as far as expertise goes. Looking at it from what you've shared, though, your prospects don't look very good. Given the right circumstances, mold grows very quickly and depending on the extent of its growth it can be very difficult to remove. Did you have insurance on the home?
