I was told by the leasing manager that if I had mold my ceilings and walls would be black. Is that true. My apartment has had water coming through the ceiling, bathroom fan and ceiling lights at least five or six times in the last 16 years due to sink, shower or tub and hot water tank failing twice from the apartment above me. The latest tank failure was this last weekend and I had water pouring through my bathroom fan, dining roon light fixture and ceilings in numerous rooms. The complex is a wooden structure.

Generally mold likes sustained moist environments to grow, so if everything was thoroughly dried out, there may not be a problem.
