Coco Coir Mold?

I have a bonsai tree growing in a coco coir/rock mixture. A few months ago, a whitish mold began appearing along the perimeter of the coir. I am concerned about whether or not the spores could potentially be unsafe. I would appreciate if somebody could identify this for me.
