black mold in my apartment

My question is this: I’ve been living in my apartment for the past 5 years and everything was fine up until about 2 years ago. I’ve been trying to figure out exactly why I’ve been so sick over the past couple years. My apartment has black mold in it and I never even knew it. Apparently the city inspectors were supposed to come out every two years to check every unit I’m not sure exactly but what they’re checking for but every two years they have this inspection. Well I’ve been living here for 5 years and my unit was never inspected in the five years that I’ve been living here but they claim that the inspectors come out every two years they never came here in five years just recently they came maybe 1 week ago and found black mold in my bedroom closet that I never knew was there. It makes complete sense as to how come I’ve been so sick over the past two years or so in what are believed to be very sad and very disturbing is that they did not ever let me know before I moved in that there was a mold problem prior to me moving in and I know that there was a mold problem because the right over the closet where the mold was found is a central air unit so I strongly believe this is not the first time that mold has been found in that closet, but they never informed me before I moved in but there was a mold issue prior and I know that their was the mold issue because of that central air unit right above the closet do I have a case I’ve been exposed to his mold long term years I’ll wait for your response thank you very much.
