Ron in San Gabriel,CA.

it all started when I noticed birds flying out of a hole above my head in to the attic area of my apartment that we were renting I asked Management to send someone over and they did a few days later they tried to screen it off with some kind of screen mesh but it was very unsuccessful the birds were continuously going in and out at this time I was getting frustrated because it was making a mess and started to make a smell and in the times that it started raining I noticed that there was a strong smell of developing getting worse and worse every time After sealing it up myself the right way or they could not come in and out I went into the attic and I found this huge Birdsnest right below the pipe I believe it was a rain gutter pipe or something for her it was leaking on this huge birds nest it was about 3‘ x 2‘ and about 6 inches high I don’t know it’s disgusting (fig.1) I told the manager about it and he said he would take care of it so a few months pass by and it starts to rain again and I’m mediately start noticing there is a smell coming again and we’re getting sick in my apartment me and my wife and my son so I went back up into the attic and I seen the Birdsnest was still there he never the owner never removed it like he told me he would and this is been almost a year already so I went to call the health department and the health department told me it’s against their new procedures Do you have anybody climb up a ladder to identify the area and fears of them falling. So I went to the Home Depot to pick up a mold kit that I found out that they sold their to do a test myself and this is what I found and it was growing in my place (fig.2) I mentioned it to the manager at the property who’s name is Tina and she said no sarcastic way of laughing in a way that the building has had a leak for 30 years and I looked at her and said when she said that from me and my wife are you serious and about that I was very upset so I told her to leave. Then I got a hold of the property owner and showed him the mold testing thing I had and he told me get that stuff off my property and I told him this is what’s in my apartment Getting me and my family sick. so I got a hold of the CDC and gentlemen came over to take a look at the property and he found signs of mold and had them right away to get a mold person to come and inspect the property and at this time me and my wife and son were really getting sick I was getting migraines almost every day my wife has a continuous cough my sons eyes are getting red And I was hoping that his asthma wasn’t going to react to it since it’s been dormant for years. When I went up to the attic I could some pictures and video of what I found in their place is a disaster they had an inspector come and made a mold test and at that time before they had the most test done I had to basically argue with the owner to get somebody over here to do a test . Then when he did came out positive he told us that we needed to leave for at least a week so he put it into a hotel and in that time I was doing my own research finding kinds of bad news about this stuff so we had to put some stuff in the storage and it turns out to be that the week turned into two weeks and we have bills that had to be paid in the middle of that. So we were late paying our bills didn’t like that very much wonder if there’s something I can do about that if anybody knows but anyways the neighbors next-door to us have kids want to go and the lady was pregnant the smell of the motor so bad I knew they could smell it and I knew was affecting them too so I asked the owner If they told him about the more they found positive in my unit next-door to them he didn’t respond I asked him if they had a copy of the report he didn’t respond so a couple days went by I saw the neighbor and I asked him hey did you guys happen to know what’s going on and they said no they didn’t know anything and when I was going back to my unit the manager came up to me and says I don’t want you talking to the tenant you may give her a miscarriage that was the final straw right there I was so mad So I started looking into getting an attorney because I noticed that when I was in the attic it was more than four or five different areas of the waters coming in from the rain (fig.4,5)and when I was up there it was a spot where the exhaust fan was supposed to protruding to the roof and was never there manager the owner when I told him he went up there and he stuck a screwdriver up there and popped a hole through the roof and had one of his colleagues down there trying to keep me busy so I wouldn’t notice we was doing pretty ruthless and I asked him when he was done, if it’s going to leak because you can see daylight coming through the damn hole is crazy I went up on the roof that night when He left and put a tarp On top of the roof which did a good job of presenting water coming in and the next Day The owner handed me at the tarp folded nicely I was so mad I told him that I might’ve found the area where it was leaking in the attic if you wanted to watch the video that I made (fig.6)he wouldn’t hear of it two months go by until the next rain it just seem to be that it started up leaking and it started smelling every time it rained it was getting to be a routine thing going through this for about a year and a half now I know what to expect but one thing I didn’t know I didn’t expect What is this thing called retaliation I was in my garage which is separated from the building and when I was in there the power was shut off I didn’t know why they pulled the emergency lever open the door and started walking towards mailbox or I believe the breaker switches are located in their summer standard flipping the switches invoice gave the manager boyfriend is flipping switches I asked him why did you give anybody notice that you were going to be turn the power off I just got locked in my garage and he came at me with this derogatory notice screaming and shouting texting annoyed I’m getting sucked up in the head(Fig.7)I tell you I wasn’t planning to move to this place to get sick let alone getting socked up in the head for reporting which seem to be protecting my own rights and my families. That’s where I’m at right now .

anybody got a good attorney ? (email- [email protected])Thanks for listening

I had a beautiful woolen jacket with a terrible musty odor. I vacuumed it, steamed it, sprayed with Fabreze and let it air outside in the cold for an hour. It is fresh and odor free. The most important consideration was to make sure that the appearance and shape of the garment were not affected. I hope this helps!

We rented a home from October 2013 – November 2015. I’m married and have three children. Our bedroom had mold in it and I’ve had medical issues since living in that home. We asked the landlord to replace the window or have the mold remedied and she refused.

My husband has since developed a very serious heart condition that he never had before. He had a very serious heart attack and nearly died. He has a pacemaker now. The pulmonologist detected nodules in his lungs as well.

I’ve had ongoing lung infections since that time as week.

Does a lawsuit make sense?

My desk at work is in a walk out basement. In the winter I am miserable. For the past month I have had headaches daily, burning eyes, scratchy throat, and strong must smell in my sinuses. I feel fatigue, trouble breathing and occasional difficulties concentrating. I want to know ASAP how to test the air! I want to know exactly what is wrong with it and then present it to my employer. I want a portable product I can use discreetly to test the air ASAP so I can diagnose this issue. I already know I am allergic to ground mold. This is likely why no one else complains except for a smell. My days are full of struggling to feel well and concentrate. Like there is a force making me feel bad or is there is volcanic ash or something in the air. The air feels heavy to breath as if there is chalk in it. My symptoms go away when I leave!

I am a missionary. I had been living in a trailer with leaks in windows and under a window unit air conditioner. I became sick for around a year with a cold and congestion. Then I got someone to start fixing the mold places, because I realized I became well when I left my house. Being a trailer they thought the easiest way was to come inside the house to get it out of the walls. After they bought inside the first mold infested insulation, I started getting symptoms as if I was sun stroke. It would last all day after I was in the house for 30 minutes. I was told by my friends I was now highly allergic to mold. I moved out to an apartment. I am trying to keep some of my things, but cleaning them with recommended mold cleaners as vinegar and bleach. I have dehumidifiers and filters to catch mold spores. My health is affected. I am still fighting the mold spores, When summer comes will be the test.

Right now I am fighting a fungus infection. Any ideas how to kill mold in your body? I am looking up information also.

When my brother bought his house, he had a carpet cleaner carpet got wet he removed carpet only now him and his wife moved to another city. I find it very suspicious that he didn’t sell the house and asked us to move in and pay some of the rent. Do you think there is a mold problem? I am very suspicious. I don’t see any mold could it be in the floor or behind the wall.

Discovered black mold under bathroom sink and decided to clean and let the landlord know. Right away she came and had me turn a fan on to “ventilate” the area. I had a bad feeling about it but since she’s so bossy and she’s the landlord she stressed I had to put the fan on. She had someone else come and clean up the contaminated areas. Ever since that time I’ve had horrible itching at night as well as my family and horrible health problems. She didn’t know spores could fly! I’m so MAD

I haven’t paid the rent because I’ve been so sick and my husband too. I need suggestions on how to handle this. I want to pay half the rent for some time. I feel the mold has spread throughout the house and the whole house needs cleaning /disinfecting and carpets replaced. This needs to be done ASAP. landlord is very cheap so please help with suggestions.

I had water coming in underneath my window in 2017. It happened when we had heavy rain falls and it was hitting the outside wall in the corner of my dining room. A hose was directed on the outside wall (brick wall) and the workers sealed the wall. My floor was all wet so the hardwood floor has to be redone. In 2019 during the winter I noticed that my hardwood floor was black in some areas. therefore it meant more water came underneath the hardwood floor. This happened because the job was not properly done in 2017. We had another bad raining storm a month ago and I could hear the rain falling and the walls underneath the windows were removed to see if it was wet and it was. This has to all be redone again.
I can smell mold but I do not have any side effects on my body. I keep my patio door opened a bit and when it’s too hot I have the a/c on.
The workers will do all the necessary work starting Tuesday to rebuild the wall and make sure water will not come in again. Also other workers will work on the outside but I’m not sure what they will do. Hopefully this problem will not happen again. The floor has to be redone again a second time. Should I buy something to spray that corner to remove that smell or will it go on its own? Thank you.

Greetings! I’m in need of some support from others dealing with similar issues. I have acquired toxic mold syndrome. I happen to be one of those annoying folks that have a hypersensitive-predisposition to mold. I understand that only 20-25% of the population will suffer health consequences due to exposure. And, I’m sure, because of such statistics, it makes sense that most people, (including doctors) just ‘poopoo’ those of us sensitives who complain of the many, MANY, symptoms that only toxic mold can bestow. It may not be toxic to most people, but it is toxic to some and makes us very sick. Imagine for a moment what those more dangerous molds do inside the walls or under the carpets. It turns otherwise viable materials into mush! It grows and spreads it’s gooey-ness and eats It’s way and takes charge of a building as though it were moving through a human population like a bloody pandemic. I wonder if perhaps mold mycotoxins effect human tissue in similar ways? Possibly? I can’t believe that we as a society are so intellectually challenged that we would simply dismiss a person’s illness because we just don’t agree with their illness. I lived in a building for five years that had a water leak in one of my walls which eventually fell apart because of the damage from black mold. And yes, I did feel more and more symptoms living there as time went on, but, the mold in that part of the wall was hidden, until it wasn’t. Years later I’m now dealing with multiple allergies, (never had any allergies prior), multiple chemical sensitivity, fibromyalgia symptoms, headaches, fatigue, symptoms of muscular dystrophy, multiple neurological issues, ummm, yeah so I can go on, but it’s boring! I had to stop working, doing what I love most working with animals. Currently I live on SS which is super limited income which forced my hand in making a move so I could get by financially and guess what??? I now have to move again cause the climate here is making things even worse. I can hardly afford to move again, back from whence I came, but it’s the desert and my only hope if I am going to recover, in which I am quite determined.
So, all you people who are so convinced that mold isn’t toxic to humans…well you can just take a walk in my ruby slippers!

I have been informed that the Patricia Handy Women’s Shelter located in Washington, DC. The shelter which used to be a men’s shelter for years prior; houses approximately 60 or so homeless women. It has been brought to my attention that this very old building has a severe case of black mold throughout. I would like action to taken to have the shelter tested for black mold or other types of mold which could be harmful to the women residing in this shelter. I don’t know as of yet how to initiate this action but I am reporting this concern to the Washington, DC Department of Health and to Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office in the very near future.

Please advise me how to go forward with the testing for black mold in the women’s shelter and how to begin to get this health hazard resolved. [email protected]

In the last month of 2017, I moved into a low-income housing apartment complex as a result of fleeing a domestic violence situation. In January 2018, there was a major water line burst that occurred in the complex’s community room. The damage was so severe that it set off the fire alarm and the water poured from the ceiling in the community room. The property management failed to immediately repair the gaping whole and perform the restoration from water damage until late July 2018.

In early May 2018, myself and other tenants began to smell musty sewage coming from the air vents. Tenants started experiencing illness such as asthma, sneezing, skin irritations, chest pain, swelling joints, stomach pains, etc. Then, I started noticing lumps develop in the walls and above the entrance into my apartment unit. When I would sweep, I could feel something biting me which indicated possible dust mites. I know once a unit is affected with mold; dust mites start to be present.

In July, my symptoms started advancing towards memory loss, skin legions, muscle spasms in my legs, disruptions in my sleep, increased irritability, and the list goes on and on. As us tenants spoken among ourselves, we realized we all were experiencing the same illness as well as seeing development in our apartments. I immediately reported this to the town’s health department as well as the state’s codes and inspections department. Neither government investigators did anything to help and stated they don’t deal in mold issues. i have complained to other levels of government officials who did nothing. As of today in 2019, the property management has continued to deny their is a mold issue.

In my opinion, I believe the government inspectors and politicians are in the pocket of the property management. Hence the reason no one is doing anything to address the problem despite the fact of tenants children are being severely ill as well as two people have died.

Moved in to a flat that had bad damp and mould in bedroom and bathroom. After living here I became very ill and went from active to bed bound with in a year I had namonia 4 times in a year. It got that I could not move from one room to the next with out a breathing problem. It was sujested to me that it could be mould sporns which I found out it was and I’m 90% sure there in my blood and up my nose I can see something dark coming down from my nose and out my ears. I’ve had the council and environmental health who both made me feel like I was mad and after writing to them felt like they did not take me serious. I spent over four months in hospital this year where I nearly died and the problem has gone from my lungs to my heart. Had no help even my doctors laughed at me and spoke about me like I was seeing things and making it all up. Don’t know where to go or what proof I can get to start legal action I just need a doctor to take me serious and do some tests not to get talked about and laughed at from the people who should be helping me. Can someone help me or point me in the right direction

Can anyone help or advise me as I’m in a council propert and lost my whole life because of how this has effected me.

I have, for years, battled mold and a never ending stench in my front load washing machine. I love the efficiency but hate the mold. I found this clever little device on Amazon that has changed my laundry life. Door-Doc is the name. I promise it will be a game changer.

I own several rentals in the Midwest, mold in the basements has been an issue. A flood in one home produced black mold in the sheet rock. What worked for me is a UVairX. Their technology eliminates mold and prevents any future spore growth. They offer a table top type unit and in-duct as well, along with a reasonable price tag. They’ve done numerous mold studies in the Denver area. I’m selling one rental home and with confidence, can say the house is mold free. It’s one thing to get rid of the mold but another to ensure that it doesn’t come back. UVairX disinfects your home so besides mold it kills pathogens such as staphylococcus, streptococcus, TB, flu, swine flu, etc. Feel free to contact me with questions.

Hot water tank leaked everywhere. House has been vacant a month. Laundry room covered in steam and mold. Water leaked all throughout bottom level. Turned water off after the 30 days of mold breeding. Can the house be saved? The heater/ac unit is in the same room where the mold grew everywhere.

Can the house be saved or is it a total loss?
